Expertise

Sheila Landi heads a small dedicated team whose aim is to offer the highest standards in textile conservation.

The workshops are fully equipped allowing all current conservation techniques to be employed including wet cleaning, solvent cleaning, stitched supports and adhesive treatments.

Sheila Landi

Following training in Fine Art at Kingston and the Royal Academy Schools she joined the Textile Section of the Conservation Department at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 1963 and became Head of Section in 1972. As conservation as a discipline was in its infancy at this stage, Sheila played a key role in its development within the museum and in the establishment of the profession in a wider sense.

She has had many articles published and has also written "The Textile Conservator's Manual" which is now in its second edition with further revisions in the paperback version.
