Services

The Consultancy offers a full range of conservation services for the individual or large institution.

Following the examination of an object or collection, a condition assessment is made with a written proposal of treatment and an accompanying estimate. Wherever possible the client is consulted over any major decisions. On completion of the project, the client recieves a treatment report with digital photographs.

Outlined below are the core services we offer.

Consultation

Object treatment proposals with estimates are prepared free of charge in the workshop. Assessments can also be carried out on site for which a charge is made.

Conservation

Cleaning and support of an object including preparation for display or storage.

Collection Surveys

Condition reports for conservation or storage requirements can be prepared for any number of objects.

Collection Care

Advice can be given on methods of collection care. Annual maintenance work can be carried out, for example surface cleaning in situ of objects such as tapestries, carpets and state beds.

Repair of composite items

The non-textile elements of an object can also be treated. If we lack the relevant expertise, colleagues within the Stable Yard who have different conservation specialisms will be consulted.

Display and storage

The Consultancy provides advice on the display and storage of objects as well as individual tailor-made mounts where applicable.

Presentations

Presentations concerning all aspects of textile conservation can be made to groups on request.

The Consultancy takes pride in offering an excellent service within a defined budget and time frameb and is known to be competitive in pricing but more importantly, the Consultancy offers the very best in conservation practice.

Every textile is unique and presents its own problems. For further information about a specific object, please contact us directly.
